AMU students have been protesting for almost a week. Students say that by publishing a picture of Narendra Modi in the Gazette, the founder of the university Sir Sayyed Ahmad Khan is being insulted. In addition, the students have accused the Gazette of ignoring the Urdu section. In this case, the students have written a letter of protest to the university administration.
Aligarh Muslim University has completed its 100th year in the year 2020 and this year was celebrated as the centenary. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the centenary celebrations as the chief guest. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the then Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also addressed the function.
The gazette contains seven pictures of Prime Minister Modi and three pictures of former Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. While only 3 pictures of the founder of the university Sir Sayyed Ahmed Khan have been posted. Students have called the gazette an advertisement rather than an academic one.
